ChurchWorldDirect Privacy Policy
PRIVACY STATEMENT FOR www.churchworlddirect.com and www.cwd.com
Privacy Policy
Thank you for visiting Church World Direct® (CWD®), we appreciate your participation in this website. Whether you are submitting articles, reviews, comments, just visiting, or sponsoring the site, your active involvement with CWD® is exactly what makes this site a valuable resource for the church community. To encourage your participation in CWD®, we have outlined our commitment to your privacy and security, and have explained what kinds of information we may collect, and how we may use that information.
www.churchworlddirect.com and www.cwd.com are owned and operated by Tri-Media Marketing. Tri-Media has been connecting Church Leaders and Christian Home School families with resources since 1989.
What personally identifiable information does Tri Media Marketing collect from me?
Tri Media Marketing collects information in several ways from different parts of our network of web sites.
Some personal information is gathered when you register. During registration, Tri Media Marketing asks for your name, postal address, email address, zip code, church affiliation, church position, and areas of personal interest. The more information you volunteer (and the more accurate it is), the better we are able to customize your CWD® experience.
In addition to registration we may ask you for personal information at other times, including (but not limited to) when you enter a sweepstakes, contest or promotion sponsored by Tri Media Marketing and/or our many partners; when you make a purchase using our partner's sites; when you submit a listing for a web site; and when you report a problem with one of our sites or services. If you contact Tri Media Marketing we may keep a record of that correspondence. Tri Media Marketing also occasionally asks users to complete surveys that we use for research purposes. Wherever Tri Media Marketing collects personal information, we make an effort to include a link to this Privacy Policy on that page.
Tri Media Marketing is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. We will share personal information you give us with our partners so that they can provide the information, goods or services you request. Tri Media Marketing collects information from our users at several different points on our website.
Who collects information on www.churchworlddirect.com and www.cwd.com?
One of the main reasons visitors come to www.churchworlddirect.com and www.cwd.com is because we serve as the middle-man connecting them to suppliers who provide goods or services to churches and church leaders.
Our partners and advertisers allow us to share information with you and, as you request, provide them with information so they can give more detailed data, or contact you directly.
In addition our advertisers tell us the type of audience they want to reach (for example, pastors in certain states). Tri Media Marketing takes the advertisement and displays it to users meeting those criteria. In this process, the advertiser never has access to individual account information and only Tri Media Marketing has access to individuals' accounts. This kind of advertisement targeting is done with banner ads as well as promotional email through Tri Media Marketing. You will also receive special offers via email from Tri Media Marketing & ChurchWorldDirect.com unless you have indicated in your signup page preferences that you prefer to not receive them. Every email will offer you the option to be removed, so you can opt out at any time you believe they are no longer beneficial to you.
At an individual's requests, we will forward their contact information to an advertiser so the advertiser can contact them with additional information about their products and/or services.
What is the registration process?
In order to submit content to this website, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give their contact information (such as name, mailing address, phone number, and email address). This information is used to contact the user about the services (whether ours or our clients') on our site for which they have expressed interest.
We request information from the user on our registration form. Here a user must provide contact information (like name and email address) in order to use our website. This information is used to fill customer's requests for information. If we have trouble processing a request, this contact information is used to get in touch with the user.
How does Tri Media use the information it collects on www.churchworlddirect.com and www.cwd.com?
There are two kinds of information Tri Media Marketing gathers through www.churchworlddirect.com and www.cwd.com. First, information you share with us through your registration, and second, information we gather while you navigate our website. The information you share with us that is necessary to fulfill the orders or request you ask of us, we will share with our partner companies so you can receive their materials, goods, or services. The other information will be gathered and combined with other www.churchworlddirect.com and www.cwd.com visitors and shared as a group with advertisers, clients, and partners so they may be able to offer you goods and services more attuned to your desires. This data is aggregated to display facts like "27% of our pastors visiting our site went to the lighting page."
Occasionally Tri Media Marketing also does research on our users' demographics, interests, and behavior based on the information provided to us upon registration, during a promotion, from our server log files or from surveys. We do this to better understand and serve our users. This research is compiled and analyzed on an aggregated basis. Tri Media Marketing may share this aggregated data with advertisers or business partners.
Under confidentiality agreements, Tri Media Marketing may match user information with third party data. Also, Tri Media Marketing discloses aggregated user statistics (for example, 59% of our users are pastors) in order to describe our services to current and prospective partners, advertisers, and other third parties, and for other lawful purposes.
We will share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.
If you request information about any of the goods or services provided by our clients on our site, we will share your basic shipping information with them so they can properly provide your request.
At other times on our site, we partner with another party to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services.
These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
Credit Card Transactions
Since www.churchworlddirect.com and www.cwd.com connect the church community with suppliers, but do not actually sell goods, we will never ask a visitor of www.churchworlddirect.com or www.cwd.com for credit card information for the purchase of goods.
We do, as a service to those wishing to advertise on this website, accept credit card payments online for our various marketing options. Every online credit card transaction is secure. We use industry standard SSL encryption, so that all credit card and personal information used to complete a transaction will be encrypted and then decoded by us once it is received.
What are cookies? Does Tri Media use them on www.cwd.com?
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. Cookies are used on our site to tailor content for each user that visits our site. They are used to maintain the location that you are at within the website, so that when you return again you are returned to the same position. For instance, by setting a cookie on our site, the user might not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our site. A second use might be to ensure settings preferred by the user are respected. If a user rejects the cookie, they may still use our site. The only drawback to this is that the user will be limited in some functionality in some areas of our site. For example, the user will not be able to participate in any of our Sweepstakes, Contests or monthly drawings that take place. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site.
Tri Media Marketing may also use cookies to measure certain traffic patterns, which areas of Tri Media's network of web sites you have visited, and your visiting patterns in the aggregate. We use this research to understand how our users' habits are similar or different from one another so that we can make each new experience on www.cwd.com a better one. We may use this information to better personalize the content, banners, and promotions that you and other users will see on our sites. Advertising networks that serve ads onto Tri Media Marketing may also use their own cookies.
Tri Media Marketing also collects IP addresses for system administration and to report aggregate information to our advertisers. In addition, Tri Media Marketing Mail includes IP addresses in outgoing mail message headers. We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are usually not easily linked to personally identifiable information.
Some of our business partners use cookies on our site (for example, advertisers). However, we have no access to or control over these cookies.
What about links to other pages?
This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we at TRI MEDIA MARKETING is not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. How will signing up for your Newsletter, surveys or contests effect my privacy?
If a user wishes to subscribe to our newsletter, we ask for contact information such as name and email address.
From time-to-time, our site requests information from users via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code, age level). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site.
In addition, if you win one of our contests, we may ask you for a letter of confirmation that you have received the prizes or reward offered in the contest. We will keep that information on file, and may use that in the future on our websites, in our advertising and to prove that we do give away the prizes we say we give away.
If I use the “Email this Page” feature on your website, how will the information I provide be used?
To make it easy for users to share content on this website with other individuals, we have a feature which allows a user to email a page from www.churchworlddirect.com to another person. When using this service a user is required to submit the name and email address of the person whom they are wishing to share the content.
